10/25/10
an autumn poem?
Leaves gather at the edge of the field
Like old friends reassuring.
The confidence of summer
Has given way to the sobriety
Of all things becoming temporary and impalpable,
Throughout summer I command my days
Now I am a beggar-
Chilled and disillusioned
I find a path among the leaves
And Orion begins his arc overhead.
